Pedro Acosta Claims First MotoGP Win at 2026 Austrian Grand Prix
Pedro Acosta is officially a MotoGP race winner.
The #37 claimed his first premier-class victory at the 2026 Austrian Grand Prix, delivering a standout performance at the Red Bull Ring and reaching a major milestone in his MotoGP career.
After 15 previous MotoGP podiums, Acosta finally climbed onto the top step with a composed ride in Austria.
It was also the perfect response to a difficult Saturday. Acosta had been leading the Sprint before crashing out in the closing stages. Less than 24 hours later, he returned to the grid and made it count when it mattered most.
Starting third on the grid, Acosta dropped back to fifth in the opening stages of Sunday's race.
He quickly recovered, passing future Ducati teammate Marc Márquez and the Aprilias of Ai Ogura and Marco Bezzecchi over the space of three laps.
That left Sprint winner Jorge Martín ahead.
Acosta caught Martín and passed the championship leader on Lap 9 before controlling the gap for the remainder of the race to take his first MotoGP victory.
Speaking after the race, Acosta said Saturday's mistake was on his mind.
“I was just trying to learn from the mistake yesterday, and tried not to make the gap even bigger than I needed.”
It was a big result for Acosta and KTM, made even sweeter by taking the win at the Red Bull Ring in Austria.
